Yeah, more DNS fun.
Posted on 2011-08-16 at 03:17 by montsamu
DNS servers all went berserk today, so I may have lost more e-mail, and all the folks who were so good to check out the Kickstarter (and thanks big time to all of you who shared the link!) were probably a bit confused when they, er, couldn't actually go see the magazine website, sample issues, etc. Hooray, technology fail! Trying to sort things out, but also need to go to bed.

A lot of random stuff.
Posted on 2011-08-15 at 19:36 by montsamu
In the spirit of "not enough time to even tell you what I'm going to tell you" some random stuff:
- Issue 6 is in pretty much all the bookstores it goes to, but ... sorry to the last couple of holdouts. It's been a crazy few weeks for me.
- I'm not quite sure what the final fiction lineup for issue 7 will be, but at least have settled on having Jason K. Chapman, Jason Erik Lundberg, and Ken Thompson in there. Others will remain to be seen.
- I may actually run out of fiction before filling up issue 8. To remedy

I didn't know about this one in time to make the August e-newsletter, but there's going to be an absolutely great lineup of local comics creators (artists and writers galore!) toward the end of the month at Ultimate Comics:

It's going to be quite a Saturday!
Posted on 2011-07-26 at 19:49 by montsamu
To quote George Takei, "Oh my!" It's going to be quite a Saturday.
First up is the Sci-Fi Genre 5th anniversary party, with cake -- no lie, there will be cake -- games, fun, and the opening of the all-new local authors section. SFG is opening its shelves (and global shipping) to local authors, and they've been great supporters of Bull Spec since even before their issue #1 interview. This starts at 10a and runs "all day long", though there is a short ceremony at 2p. Still, you won't be staying there all day

"Cabinet" and "Steampunk" (and The Magician King!) are getting some good press! Are you excited yet?
Posted on 2011-06-22 at 19:31 by montsamu
But before I get on with that, a brief announcement: in the hour preceding the 7 pm Cabinet of Curiosities Literary Extravaganza event on Saturday July 30 at Durham's Fullsteam Brewery (whew!) the brewery will play host to the Davenport Sisters, hosts of the weekly Steampunk radio show The Clockwork Cabaret. So, if you're around, and want to come hang out early, chat, get an early start on whatever the Fullsteam R&D is cooking up, etc. the music starts at 6. (Note: they come in pints, of course, but did you

The Triangle's "Summer of Steampunk" kicks off today with the Beaver Queen "Streampunk" pageant in Durham (http://www.thedurhamnews.com/2011/05/29/206956/wholl-be-beaver-queen.html). More stuff?
New! Saturday, June 11th, The Decemberists are playing a concert at the Raleigh Amphitheatre (http://decemberists.com/show_notes/the-decemberists-in-raleigh-nc-on-june-11-2011/). Yeah, not technically Steampunk but birds of a feather in many ways.
